Important Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Wall Box

Circa: 1790
Size: 13" oah
An important wallbox with an exceptional heart shaped backboard and remarkable paint decoration. The reductive heart shape is worked out with a compass (point marks present). The whole body and box is painted with allover stippled roundels. The box is constructed from poplar with an applied over-hanging base. Hand wrought nails. I have not seen a finer wallbox. Similar decoration is seen on Lancaster County compass work boxes and even Mahantongo Vally chests.

Condition: Excellent with an old break to the lower left portion of the base. Untouched surface with zero restoration.
