Iroquois Maple Abstract Effigy Ladle
Circa: 1820
Size: 7 3/4" OAL; (bowl) 4 1/2" x 4"l
This is a simple but striking ladle. The carver identifies his ladle with a decisively carved scribe. More than just a scratched out line, the scribe is fully carved with a careful fold into the mark. Though the nature or meaning of the carving is lost it has an avian feel to it.
Condition: Very Good - Excellent maintaining a first rate surface. Old loss to one side of the bowl.
