1882 NY State Folk Art Mallet

Truly a fine piece of American utilitarian folk art. The well carved handle features a female captive in an erotic and suggestive pose with a swag of drapery in her mouth. Noted from the exceptional patina and wear this piece was certainly used daily.... a glorious patina that one seldom sees on latter 19th C wood.
